I'm not high on Ware. I think he's probably only the third best (possibly fourth) of their four back rotation. He barely missed 4 yards per carry, but that's still shy and means there were 23 backs in the league that averaged better than he did. I get that the starter on an offense like theirs is probably going to have lower numbers just because the defense won't have loosened up yet, but nine other SEC starters were better than him on a per carry basis.
I'm holding back my opinion on Mettenberger beyond what I've said above for the simple fact that all of the faith in him at this point is based on two things: 1) people's belief that he just "has to be better than last year" which isn't true, and is largely based on Jefferson's play in only one game, and 2) the positive things the coaches and players are saying about him after spring, but if you'll recall the media after LSU's previous spring, they were touting Jefferson as a Heisman contender. Until I see Mettenberger actually play against a decent defense, I have no idea what to expect from him either good or bad.

Their DL is going to be nasty, and you're spot on about Brockers (just think if he had not gone pro). I think I'd have to vote for Montgomery as most important returning player. I also wonder about their secondary and depth, Collins and/or Mills will have to step up & Loston needs to stay healthy. Hate to say it but I think Mettenberger is going to be a good one, with 3 games to work out the kinks. I really like Ware at RB and Landry at WR, maybe better than Beckham by year end. One thing is for sure, Alabama's OL vs. LSU's DL will be a slobberknocker. I'm guessing 11-1 (Towson in a triple OT shocker).
