Kevin Norwood helps Tyrann Matthieu get something off the top shelf.
An LSU player gets kicked off the team, an Alabama player clears a roster spot for “family and personal reasons” and Auburn is being investigated by the NCAA again. Football must be right around the corner.
That article told me that the academic record of Jovon Robinson is being investigated. If it turns out the guy doesn’t have the grades to qualify, then Auburn will have to send him home. Pretty straight forward stuff.
There is no question that even if Auburn had anything to do with changing his records to make him eligible (and I am not suggesting that they are), that will remain hidden. But, the fact remains that Auburn has acknowledged that the NCAA is looking into their role, as they should. Someone consciously broke rules to make him eligible (there is no argument against that, and no one is attempting to make one), so NCAA is performing due diligence in investigating everyone who benefits from it, Auburn included.
Though I’m sure you’re just setting the record straight and not being a homer at all, which is why you also called me out for suggesting that Alabama was clearing roster space when in fact it’s too late to benefit from that and it really is just a case of a player leaving for personal reasons.
Didn’t you know? I’m never a homer.
