You had two good runs -- one an end around you won't run every week and certainly not the kind of thing you base a phase of offense around -- and one by an actual running back that went 42 yards. Take away just those two carries, and you ran for 89 yards on 36 attempts, or somewhere on par with what you did last season. Even with those attempts, it was only the ninth best performance in the SEC this weekend, and that's with one of the teams not playing.
I agree that compared to last season, this is improvement. But compared to a competent running game, I was right in my preview (it didn't impress) and in my review (didn't look very good). It would be like saying Michigan looked good in the passing game because they completed two long passes, while ignoring every other pass attempt.
It is true, as you said, if they can run block more consistently, you will be just fine. BUT -- you have to improve from what happened in week one, you have to do it against stiffer competition, and even then ... "just fine" is not "impressive."

Steve, considering that we were at the bottom of the entire league in rushing last year, I thought we looked pretty good on the ground. I mean last year we averaged like 110 yards a game if I remember correctly. Today, we doubled that figure. Sure, CP was our leading rusher, but there is nothing wrong with that. The running game looked much better. Marlin Lane ran like a feature back. If the offense can run block more consistently we will be just fine on the ground.
